DePoly SA wins the online pitch for there-for-you.com and MassChallenge Switzerland
Five innovative start-ups presented their business ideas to a prestigious jury and DePoly came out on top with an innovative technology for an optimised PET plastic recycling circuit. For the winner, there is plenty of exposure on the new crowd donation platform there-for-you.com.
The MassChallenge Switzerland organisation supports start-ups from all over Europe in growing their companies. As part of a global network for innovators, it gives innovative entrepreneurs the opportunity to put creative ideas into practice and engineer significant changes. The cooperation between MassChallenge Switzerland and there-for-you.com developed by virtue of shared contacts to Swiss technology company Bühler.
Based on the motto “Together against climate change”, the two organisations are sponsoring five innovative Swiss start-ups in the climate protection section. Matt Lashmar, managing director of MassChallenge Switzerland, is pleased about the new cooperation: “MassChallenge is all about connecting people and organisations to provide high-impact support for start-ups. The there-for-you.com platform is a really exciting initiative and the perfect opportunity to get our start-ups into contact with a wider audience to help them and offer added value to society.
DePoly SA is working towards a sustainable future
Winning startup DePoly SA from Sion has developed a new technology to close the recycling circuit by means of chemical recycling of PET plastic at room temperature and pressure. The raw material extracted is then sold back to industry, providing access to sustainably produced chemicals for PET resin production. This enables an indirect reduction in CO2 emissions, as exactly the same materials are produced from consumer waste as would otherwise be made by the oil industry.
DePoly and the other four project ideas come from completely different sectors of industry, but all have one thing in common: they are helping to stem climate change with innovative products and processes to reduce CO2 emissions in their industry.
The jury, whose members included Dr Ian Roberts, Chief Technology Officer at Bühler, Prof. Mariana Christen Jakob, Founder and Managing Partner at SEIF and Pascale Bruderer, Former Member of the Council of States, assessed the feasibility and effectiveness of the projects.
there-for-you.com, MassChallenge Switzerland and the jury would like to extend their warmest congratulations to the DePoly SA team on their victory and wish them every success in implementing their business idea. The initiative can be viewed under “recommended projects” at there-for-you.com, and the other four projects are showcased in the “climate protection” category. A donation to the start-ups allows pilot projects to be realised or prototypes to be built or enables expansion into new markets.
