Christmas Giveaway
project summaryGo Green Africa would like to support the 220 poorest households in their community in eastern Uganda with a food package so that they can celebrate a carefree Christmas for once.
Background
In the heart of Kabayingire village, Jinja (Uganda), the holiday season is a time of both joy and struggle. While Christmas is a time of celebration and togetherness around the world, for many villagers in this community, it's a stark reminder of the challenges they face.
One of the most significant struggles is putting a simple meal on the table. Poverty looms large, and many families can't afford the extravagance that is often associated with the festive season. Food prices skyrocket during the holidays, making it even more difficult to provide a nourishing meal for their loved ones.
For most of the villagers, the idea of decorating a Christmas tree or exchanging gifts remains a distant dream. Basic necessities take precedence over festive decorations, and many children miss out on the joy of unwrapping presents
Despite these hardships, the community in Jinja comes together in remarkable ways. Neighbors help neighbors, sharing what little they have, and demonstrating the true spirit of Christmas – giving, even when they have little themselves.

Idea
We at GO GREEN AFRICA (G.G.A) are working together with our local community to help each other. As the year is coming to an end, we as G.G.A. want to organise a Christmas party. In Kabayingire village, there are more than 220 households registered by Go Green Africa who directly benefit from this project. These families live in poverty, which means that they cannot even provide themselves with the basic necessities such as food, medicine and so on..
Implementation
As you know, Christmas is just around the corner. We (G.G.A) are looking forward to raising 2395 CHF. If we reach this target, we will be able to share the happiness of Christmas with the families from the community. Each family will receive a parcel of food (rice and meat), four items of clothing for the children and a Christmas card worth 10 CHF on Christmas Day and 195 CHF will be used to support the staff in the distribution. The Christmas campaign will be led by Kayinza Hajara, the Finance Manager of GO GREEN AFRICA. Your donation will help us put a smile on a family's face.
